Robert Holladay
Holladay Cole
Holladay Cole was a spoken word/ music joint featuring music by Josh Cole and words by Robert Holladay.
Holladay Cole enjoyed a brief existence at open mics, pizza
joint basements and bars of questionable repute from their humble beginnings at the first ever Elephant Garlic Fest to their embarrassing and drunken conclusion in Bingen, WA.
Ever one to flog a dead horse, Robert Holladay ventured into self-publication with The Porcelain Reader, a fold-and-staple zine which shamelessly recycled the words used by Holladay Cole. The Reader saw three 'finished' issues (in various states of editing) and one unreleased fourth issue (#4) which featured works by other unheard-of Portland area writers.
Furthering their love of necro-equestrian sadism, Holladay Cole also released several home-produced CD's- including the EP's 'Juicy Sauce' and 'Talking to the Canoe Driver' (which were, in fact, EXACTLY THE SAME!) as well as the final collection of Holladay Cole live recordings entitled simply 'Holladay Cole'.

Bathrobe Superhero
Man overdoses on over-the-counter cough syrup. Man begins to hallucinate. What could go wrong?
Henchmen
Every Good Boy Deserves Henchmen
Repressed Teen Angst
Recorded live at It's A Beautiful Pizza about a hundred and fifteen years ago, RTA was my attempt at a more seriously- themed piece, and Josh's haunting twelve bar blues sets the mood quite nicely in this bittersweet coming of age tale. Or, maybe it's just a funny piece about the parallels between teen-hood and adult-hood.
The Party
Recorded not live, but mixed with live sounding sound we recorded live so as to make it sound live, as if it was actually being performed at an actual party (tricky, no?), The Party is just a good time.
Cowboys and Indians
This marvel of modern recordery was produced using a very sophisticated "cassette recorder" which we placed in front of the monitor at Produce Row one glorious open mic.
